6 Tips From Activbody: Keeping Your New Year’s Resolutions

It is the start of a brand new year and maybe, just maybe, 2015 will be the year of the resolutions that were made and kept.

Often we join a gym in January, but stop going by Valentine’s Day. The demands of family, work, and travel eat up a lot of time. This is what TAO is all about – making it possible to exercise, anywhere, anytime. Got a few minutes? You can get a set of reps in, burn calories, reduce stress, tone muscles, and get the blood flowing.

We’re very close to being able to get TAO WellShells to you. Our resolution for 2015 is to not underestimate the time it takes to get new hardware to market. As soon as TAO is tested and certified we’ll ship!

This year we have some tips to help you keep your resolutions and reach your fitness goals:

1. Create an achievable goal for yourself by breaking your big goal down into small steps. Instead of saying “I want to lose weight,” if you say “I will lose 20lbs by June” then you would have the weekly goal of losing 1lb per week, which suddenly looks much more attainable.

2. Make a schedule and stick to it. Plan set times in your day for exercise and adjust accordingly. If you want to exercise for 30 min before work 4 days per week – go to sleep 30 minutes earlier on the nights before. If you want to eat healthier, make a meal plan for the week and prep everything ahead of time. Get organized and turn your changes for the better into habits.

3. Have a support system in place. Find a friend with similar goals and work together – inspire each other to run the extra mile or go to the gym when you really just want to sleep in. Healthy competition and accountability to someone else will help you stay on track.

4. Reward yourself for reaching each milestone goal. Tip yourself after each workout – at the end of the month take your tips and go to the spa or buy some snazzy new workout gear. Go down a pants size? Reward yourself with a new pair of jeans!

5. Plan for an allowable amount of cheating in your schedule. No one is perfect, and we all will falter at some point, the key is to plan for it and not be derailed by it. If you successfully eat healthy all week have a cheat meal and eat your absolute favorite guilty pleasure comfort food. If you exercise every day during the week, let yourself have that movie marathon on the couch on Sunday. Just make sure that you get right back on track after your cheat day.

6. Be Flexible. And we are not just talking about yoga. Just because you have a schedule that you are maintaining, it does not mean that you cannot alter it to fit your changing life. If you start to hate the monotony of your routine – change it up! Instead of going to the gym, call some friends and play basketball together. Sick of the treadmill? Go for a hike! Can’t take any more salads? Make a smoothie!

We are off to CES 2015 in Las Vegas next week to demo the TAO Wellshell 2.0, as well as a BRAND NEW Smart home product that we will be unveiling at the show.
