If you thought the party had ended for Jazzercise and Zumba, think again. Do an internet search for either and you get page after page of opportunities to take classes in your area. They are thriving in a landscape filled with competitive, new types of workouts, classes, and cutting-edge equipment and studios.

Why have Jazzercise and Zumba lasted so long? Most people become addicted to the high energy, comradery, and fun. But, there’s more to Jazzercise and Zumba than dancing and music. Let’s start with Jazzercise.

Invented in 1969 as a warm-up to dance classes, Jazzercise has reinvented itself for a new generation. We all have our idea of what it is (or at least what it was) – spandex, cheesy dance moves, and “sweatin’” to Olivia Newton John. It’s not. Take a class, watch a video, or talk to a Jazzercise aficionado, and you’ll quickly learn that Jazzercise will kick your butt. It’s an ultra-cardio workout that combines modern dance moves with Pilates, weights, strength training and stretching all to thumping dance jams.

If Jazzercise is America’s dance workout, then Zumba belongs to the world. Invented in the mid-90’s in Columbia, it is now the cardio workout for 15 million people a week in over 200,000 locations in 180 countries. Now THAT is a global exercise routine.

Zumba combines a wide range of dance genre’s, like hip-hop, samba, salsa, chachacha, and even martial arts. Mixed in with the dance moves and plyometric and high impact interval exercises. Do it right and you can burn 600 calories in an hour. A variety of classes focus on kids, chair workouts, water classes and classes that target specific regions of your body.

So, why should Activ5 “dance” with Jazzercise and Zumba? Everything about Jazzercise and Zumba can be improved by incorporating Activ5 into your workout regimen.

Cardio, cardio, cardio!: While both Jazzercise and Zumba have elements of strength training and toning, make no mistake – these are cardio workouts. Well, it turns out that isometric exercises are a more effective form of training than aerobic exercises. Incorporate Activ5 and you’ll be able to go harder at your next Jazzercise or Zumba class.

Strength: The isometric exercises you do with your Activ5 device increase strength, build muscle and tone your body. It’s the perfect complement to a cardio workout.

Stamina: Most Jazzercise and Zumba classes run an hour. You will last longer, keep within your target heart rate, and get more out of your classes with the increased stamina you’ll get with Activ5 workouts.

Lose weight: Why do people take Jazzercise and Zumba classes anyway? To lose weight and get toned. One of the key benefits of isometric workouts is weight loss and toning your entire body.

But, Activ5 has benefits that neither Jazzercise nor Zumba can compete with.

Time: The one thing we all need more of. By the time you drive to the gym, change your clothes, warm up, take the class, warm down, drive home, etc… you’re looking at nearly 2 hours of your valuable time. Activ5 isometric workouts last 5 minutes. You can do them anytime, anywhere and the short burst workouts will increase your metabolic rate throughout your day.

No impact: Dancing, plyometrics, high intervals and weights take a toll on your joints. The more you move and jump around, the more likely you are to injure yourself, and then what will you do? Activ5 workouts are no impact. Zero. Nada.

No classes: Okay, so a big part of Jazzercise and Zumba is being with like-minded people all having fun and losing weight. For a lot of you, that’s the biggest reason NOT to take a class. We’re not saying don’t do Jazzercise of Zumba, but if you prefer the privacy of your home, Activ5 gives you a full-body workout, builds muscle, and burns calories.

From hard-core Jazzercise and Zumba practitioners to the one-class-a-month types, Activ5 will take your classes to new heights. But, if classes just aren’t cutting it anymore or you don’t have time, or you now have joint pain, Activ5 is the answer to your exercise goals.
